Santander Bank President shot during his Rolex watch Robbery in Peru.
Luxury watches theft is nothing of a new story. Unfortunately, we read about cases of luxury watches robberies almost on a weekly basis. Whether it’s the streets of London, New York, or Los Angeles, Luxury watches robberies and theft happen, and victims pile up. The latest story comes from Peru, where two assailants attacked the Santander Bank Of Peru president, Mr. Gonzalo Echeandía Bustamante. The incident happened on the 17th of March when the attackers tried to steal his expensive Rolex watch.
Security camera footage shows the bank president walking on Víctor Maurtua street in the Lima district of San Isidro. While walking, one of the attackers approached him while holding a firearm.
The hooded man can be seen trying to snatch the watch from Echeandía Bustamante, who was resisting and not giving up on his watch. The attacker does not hesitate, shoots him, and removes the watch from Echeandía Bustamante’s wrist. Then he hurries to a nearby motorcycle, where an accomplice awaits him, and the two escape from the scene.
Echeandía Bustamante was shot in his leg, but he’s already feeling better, and he will go under surgery to remove the bullet from his leg.

Police suspect that the criminals are part of a gang called “Los injertos del Rolex”, an organization dedicated exclusively to similar incidents on Lime’s streets.
Although some people are asking how it is possible that such a high-profile businessman walks alone on the streets without security, we think that people don’t need to be scared to wear luxury watches or walk alone, no matter what position they are holding and what are they doing for a living.
This case is, of course, another example of luxury watches thefts, which brings up the question – as watch enthusiasts, do we really need to think twice while we are wearing our watches, especially when we travel abroad or walk in areas that are known for repeated cases of robberies and attacks?
Another interesting question is, maybe it’s better to keep those shiny Rolex and Cartier watches safe at home and hang out with Micro brand watches, which, in many cases, are much less expensive and will hurt our pocket much less if they are stolen?
And we will be happy to hear your answer to one last question – is it part of your consideration when purchasing a new watch or wearing a watch the fact that someone might try to steal it from you, and how much do you pay attention to it, if at all …?
