Not many microbrands survive fifteen years. Fewer still arrive at the milestone with something genuinely new to show for it. DWISS, the Lugano-based independent Swiss brand founded by designer Rafael Simoes Miranda in 2011, marks the occasion with two new anniversary editions of its S1 wandering-hours timepiece, and they might be the strongest argument yet for why independent watchmaking still has room to surprise.

The Brand Behind the Dial
For collectors who haven’t crossed paths with DWISS before, the short version: Miranda started the brand with a conviction that the way a watch displays time is as important as the movement ticking inside it. That philosophy produced the M1’s mysterious hours, the M3’s displaced hours, the R2’s floating hours, and eventually the R1W’s wandering hours. Every collection was produced in strictly limited numbers, and once sold out, retired permanently. No re-issues. No second runs.
Along the way, DWISS racked up 34 international design awards, including three iF Design Awards and nine consecutive European Product Design Awards. The brand created the world’s first Niobium watch case in 2012, introduced the first Swiss-made tourbillon from a microbrand with the R1T in 2017, and launched the first-ever Watch Design Club, giving collectors a direct hand in designing a model. In 2024 and 2025, DWISS was named among the Top 100 Luxury Jewelry and Watch Brands by Luxury Lifestyle Awards, standing alongside names like Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.
It’s a track record that would be impressive for a brand ten times its size.

The S1: Orbital Mechanics on the Wrist
The S1 was first unveiled in February 2026 at Time to Watches in Geneva, debuting in four colors (Blue, Green, Salmon, and Black). The concept is inspired by the Moon’s orbit around the Earth: two satellite discs carry the hour numerals across the upper arc of the dial, one for odd hours, one for even. A central carrier rotates once every two hours, presenting each numeral in turn and hiding the rest. The current hour points to the minute track along the perimeter, while seconds are displayed on a small central disc.
The result is a dial that is never static. Time doesn’t sit still on the S1 – it moves, unhurried and deliberate, like celestial bodies tracing their paths.

The mechanism sits inside a newly developed cushion-shaped case, a silhouette entirely new to the DWISS catalog. Sandblasted surfaces contrast against brushed lugs, and every surface transition reads as intentional. Powering the display is a modified La Joux-Perret G100 Soigne automatic movement with a 68-hour power reserve.
The initial launch generated immediate demand. Piece number 01 of each of the four debut editions was offered at auction, and all four sold for 30% above their retail price – before a single watch had reached a collector’s wrist.
Two New Expressions for the Anniversary
The 15th Anniversary editions add two new dial treatments to the S1 lineup.
S1 Orange – A vibrant, saturated orange dial with a smooth radial gradient that’s luminous at its center and deepens toward the edges. A black chapter ring frames the minute scale and sharpens the contrast. This is a watch that behaves differently under every light source – warm, cool, natural, artificial – and it is impossible to ignore on the wrist.

S1 Silver – The opposite approach. A silver metal dial with circular brushed finishing catches light in concentric arcs, paired with blue numerals that offer quiet definition. Where the Orange announces itself across a room, the Silver rewards the closer look. It’s the kind of dial that earns its reputation one glance at a time.

Both editions come on a DELUGS CTS FKM rubber strap with a deployment clasp in 316L steel.
Each is limited to 50 pieces per color. Neither will be re-issued.

Community First
DWISS handled the rollout in a way that reflects its priorities. In July 2026, the first 15 pieces of each anniversary edition were offered exclusively to the brand’s subscriber community – more than 150,000 followers and newsletter subscribers who have funded, shaped, and in some cases directly designed DWISS watches over the years. Only now, in September 2026, are the remaining pieces opening to the public.
It’s the kind of move that builds real loyalty, and it’s consistent with how DWISS has operated since day one.

The Bottom Line
The S1 15th Anniversary editions are not a nostalgia play. They’re the sharpest expression yet of a brand that has spent fifteen years proving that a Swiss watch doesn’t need to cost five figures to offer genuine horological creativity. A wandering-hours complication, a modified La Joux-Perret caliber, a 68-hour power reserve, and a case worthy of the design awards that keep accumulating – all for CHF 2,300.
At 50 pieces per color, these won’t last long. If the auction results from the debut editions are any indication, the secondary market will be less forgiving than the retail price.
