Davosa is a Swiss watchmaker, which some might argue is not really a microbrand, especially considering the number of units the company produces every year, as Davosa probably produces more watches each year than some of the “old” Swiss watchmakers. The Davosa Argonautic Coral Limited Edition watches are one of the most special watches the company has ever released. Those familiar with Davosa’s watch collection know that the Argonautic is one of the brand’s most popular watches, so why is it so special? Although this watch features a cool dial, it is not about its design, it is about its idea and the collaboration behind them.
Davosa Argonautic Coral
The Coral Edition is a 300 piece limited edition, that Davosa is releasing together with the non-governmental organization “Coral Guardian”, an international organization dedicated to preserving and renewing endangered underwater ecosystems.
Due to DAVOSA’s proximity to the international diving community, it was possible to maintain direct contact with Coral Guardian, a marine conservation organization. This led to the first joint project: the Argonautic Coral. In bright orange and turquoise blue, the dials of the professional diving watch are reminiscent of fluorescent corals.

Revenues from this project go directly to the NGO Coral Guardian, which restores coral reefs on Hatamin Island. With the Argonautic Coral, the buyer will receive tangible proof in the form of a supporter certificate.
Coral Guardian
Coral Guardian has been sharing its knowledge and experience from active marine protection in its training program, Blue Center, for decades. Training more people around the world to implement local projects is one of the organization’s primary goals.

Using a unique technique, coral fragments are attached to solid metal structures. The corals that attach to this modifiedsubstrate grow and the reef comes back to life. Each coral element is collected locally.
The Watches
The Davosa Group introduces two new watches as part of its support and cooperation with the Coarl Guardian organization. Taking inspiration from fluorescent corals, this watch features a striking orange and turquoise blue dial.

The 43mm stainless steel case of the watch is made of 316L stainless steel. The watches are waterproof up to 300 meters and are equipped with a screw-on manual helium valve. For enhanced readability, the watch indexes and hour, minute and second hands are filled with BGW09 SuperLuminova.

You can rest assured that your money is going toward a good cause when you purchase the new Davosa Argonautic Coral Limited Edition. If you often feel guilty after making purchases due to the impact it has on the environment, this limited edition offers an opportunity to support a worthwhile organization and contribute to the preservation of coral reefs!

Davosa Argonautic Coral – To Sum it up
While big names from the luxury watch industry are well known for their collaborations with environmental and non-governmental organizations. some of the names we can think of are Oris, Ulysse-Nardin, and IWC. But for a “small” brand, although, once again, Davosa might not even be considered a Microbrand by some watch enthusiasts, it’s a unique cooperation.
As watch enthusiasts, we often feel that using the term “limited-edition” or “special edition” in watchmaking is exaggerated. In this case, you won’t hear us complaining, and we hope to see more and more initiatives like this that will help make our world a better place.
