Christopher Ward is introducing two new C63 Sealander watches, and what’s special about these watches is not the dial or something on the exterior of the watch, but what’s hiding inside it – the movement. The two new watches, C63 Sealander with SH21 Movement, are the first watches to use Christopher Ward SH21 movement, the first industrialized mechanical caliber from a British watch company in fifty years. Join us and find out what’s so special about these watches.
Two Important Collaborations
The C63 SH21 Blue Marine is the latest watch that we are seeing from the cooperation between Christopher Ward and Blue Marine Foundation.

The Blue Marine Foundation is a marine conservation organization that worked several times with Christopher Ward. Christopher Ward is donating a part of the revenue from the sales of these watches to the Blue Marine Foundation. This time, Christopher Ward will donate 5% of the sale price to the organization to support their efforts to clean the ocean of rising levels of plastic.

The C63 SH21 Snow Leopard is being launched with the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. as with the C63 SH21 Blue Marine, this watch comes as part of a longtime cooperation between Christopher Ward and David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, a wildlife charity supporting conservation projects across Africa and Asia. Christopher Ward will also be donating 5% of the sale of each watch to support specific projects aimed at preserving the snow leopard population in Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan.

With such meaningful cooperation, it doesn’t matter what Christopher Ward will launch. Luckily for us, Christopher Ward introduced these two watches with the most important horological achievement of British watchmaking in the last fifty years.
The SH21 Caliber
Calibre SH21 is an automatic watch movement produced since 2014 by Synergies Horlogères, part of Christopher Ward London Holdings.

Introduced in 2014, Calibre SH21 is a new design by Johannes Jahnke. Synergies Horlogères produce it with nine other suppliers in Switzerland. The name combines the initials of the producing company with the number 21, standing for “21st century” and indicating the newness of the design.
Calibre SH21 is a modular movement with components designed to be interchanged with other future models. It is a double barrel movement with automatic winding, good for five days of power reserve when fully wound. The modular design makes it large and thick, but it is still used in modern watch cases. The movement is chronometer-certified by COSC.

Christopher Ward used this caliber in the past in some limited edition watches and concept models, but never in a watch that is supposed to be sold commercially.
C63 Sealander with SH21 Movement – The Watches
The two new C63 Sealander Watches are part of the Christopher Ward Sealnader series, the all-purpose sport watch that Christopher Ward introduced in April 2021. the watches come in a stainless steel case, at 41mm diameter, with the “light catcher” geometry that highlights Christopher Ward’s high-end finishings.
The Blue Marine watch comes with a turquoise dial, while the Snow Leopard comes with a white dial. Christopher Ward is using a big arrow-shaped hour hand together with a wide minutes hand. At 3 o’clock, we find the date window, which comes at the same tone of the dial. At 6 o’clock we find a sub-dial with seconds display and the 5-day power reserve display is located on the sub-dial located at 9 o’clock. the watches come with a stainless-steel bracelet, and they are both prices at $1,925, which means that Christopher Ward will be donating ~$100 for every watch sold from these two models. The watches will be available for pre-order from Mid July 2023.
