It’s not every day that I open a watch box and immediately feel like I’ve stumbled upon an artifact from the edge of the solar system. But that’s exactly the impression the Anicorn Cassini Nemesis made on me. Right out of the box, it didn’t whisper for attention – it quietly commanded it.
Inspired by Saturn’s elusive hexagonal storm system, and named after NASA’s legendary Cassini mission, this timepiece is more than just another blacked-out watch – it’s a deliberate fusion of science, design, and mood. And after wearing it for a week, I can say: it’s also a genuinely enjoyable piece to live with.

First Impressions: Understated Drama
Opening the packaging, I was greeted by a bold, black silhouette. Sandblasted 316L stainless steel with matte PVD coating gave the watch an immediate tactical feel – dark and mysterious, but refined. The hexagonal motif subtly echoed across the case design, crystal, and crown. It’s clever, but not gimmicky. You wouldn’t even notice unless you looked for it, which makes it feel intentional rather than forced.
The Cassini Nemesis comes with two strap options: a quick-release stainless steel bracelet and a high-performance FKM rubber strap. I tested both. The bracelet has a pleasant weight and solid, clicky feel, with just the right amount of flex for comfort. But it was the FKM strap that stole the show for me – soft, pliable, and incredibly comfortable. It’s the strap I kept coming back to for daily wear.

On the Wrist: A Black Hole of Cool
At 42mm wide and 14.6mm tall, the Cassini Nemesis sits on the wrist with presence but not overbearance. The proportions are smart: wide dial aperture, compact lug-to-lug, and gentle curvature. On my 6.75” wrist, it sat flush and felt secure. The visual weight from the all-black palette actually helped it feel more compact.
It’s a monochrome watch – but there’s nuance here. The dial features a layered design, with the central hexagon showcasing fine etching of Saturn’s polar jet stream. As the light hits, these details shift subtly, giving the dial surprising depth. The hands, with their sunray brushed finish and blue-glowing Super-LumiNova BG W9, match the watch’s cosmic theme without being ostentatious.
Wearing it in low light reveals its secret weapon: the lume. The icy blue glow of the hands and dial markings feels directly lifted from the upper atmosphere of Saturn. It’s vibrant, well-applied, and lasts a good stretch into the night.

Under the Hood: Modified NH35-ATD
Anicorn could’ve easily gone with a stock NH35 and called it a day. Instead, they’ve taken the time to modify the movement’s rotor and bridge – reworking them in ruthenium anthracite with Côte de Genève finishing and gold infill. You can see this through the exhibition caseback, and it adds a premium touch that few in this price range bother with.
Mechanically, the movement is reliable. I observed around +18 seconds/day – well within the spec range of -20/+40. Power reserve was true to spec, just over 41 hours.
It’s still a workhorse underneath, but the custom touches make it feel special. Anicorn’s commitment to the “Time Different” ethos shows in these small but meaningful details.

Design Philosophy: Storytelling Through Form
What Anicorn has done here isn’t just thematic. It’s narrative. Every element – from the hexagonal crown to the swirling seconds hand mimicking a maelstrom – is designed to echo the phenomenon of Saturn’s north pole. It’s not just a visual theme; it’s a conceptual one.
The result is a watch that doesn’t scream for attention, but becomes more intriguing the longer you look at it. It’s a conversation piece – but not in the “look-at-my-tourbillon” sense. Instead, it invites questions: “What’s the pattern on the dial?” “Why the hexagonal shape?” “Is this inspired by something?”
For those of us who enjoy watches with a bit of mystery and mood, this is right on target.

Daily Use: Surprisingly Versatile
I wasn’t sure how an all-black, space-themed watch would perform as a daily wearer-but I was pleasantly surprised. The Cassini Nemesis is subtle enough to wear with casual outfits but has just enough edge to elevate simple clothing. With the bracelet, it could pair nicely with dark business casual. With the FKM strap, it became my go-to weekend companion.
Its 5 ATM water resistance isn’t dive-ready, but it’s enough to handle splashes and weather without worry. The anti-fingerprint coating also proved effective – keeping the matte black finish pristine with minimal fuss.
One small quirk: the hexagonal crown looks fantastic but can feel slightly harder to grip when winding manually. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of.

What It’s Not
This isn’t a specs monster or a traditional dress piece. It’s not made for the tool-watch purist. Not even close, and that’s okay. The Cassini Nemesis exists in a category of its own – between artistic statement and functional accessory.
It’s also not trying to be “luxury adjacent.” Yes, there’s attention to detail. Yes, there’s custom finishing. But the price point – $600 with rubber, $650 with bracelet – places it squarely in the thoughtful collector’s realm rather than the status chaser’s.

Final Verdict: A Watch with Gravity
Anicorn’s Cassini Nemesis isn’t trying to be everyone’s watch – and that’s its greatest strength. It’s for the curious. The imaginative. The ones who appreciate symbolism, design discipline, and a story behind the mechanics.
In a world where microbrands often chase the same diver/aero/field templates, this one stands out. It’s confident in its identity, clean in its execution, and rich in inspiration. For those of us who enjoy watches that challenge convention without sacrificing wearability, the Cassini Nemesis is a rare find.
Would I recommend it? Absolutly not for everyone or as a gift.
This design is very unique and the person who wears this watch – must love the design. Even if he “likes” it, it won’t be enough. But, if you like this special design, yes. Especially to anyone looking to add a thematic piece with authentic personality and no-nonsense specs to their collection.
