A good dress watch is essential to any comprehensive watch collection especially if you spend a lot of time in a suit. The Heritage Edition is the latest offering from Kickstarter success, Hastings & Co.

Hastings & Co Heritage Edition Watch

Hastings & Co started in 2014 with the goal to produce and affordable high quality timepiece. The Classic Edition was born, a minimalist quartz dress watch that was a success on Kickstarter and has been shipped to over 40 countries. After numerous customers requested a mechanical version, they developed the new Heritage Edition.

When I asked Mark from Hastings & Co about what had inspired his design, he had this to say:

My eyes are naturally inclined to things with strong, clean lines, simple coloration; things that typically fit the modern design philosophies. These, of course, are founded on principles developed in the era of Bauhaus design. Our Heritage Edition is truly a reflection of this. Be it the clean, enamel dial, or the unique cut along the case that stretches from the top lugs to the bottom. We did our best to incorporate the Bauhaus principles of design, while adding a few personal touches to the watch.

With a retail price of US$299, but starting at US$180 on Kickstarter, the Heritage Edition features the following:

  • Double-domed sapphire crystal
  • Applied indices on an enamel dial
  • 316L polished stainless steel case
  • 40mm diameter
  • 11 mm thickness
  • Genuine leather strap
  • Butterfly deployment clasp
  • Exhibition case back
  • 24 month international warranty
  • Piano black wood presentation box with a leather interior

When it comes to colours, you’ll have the option of a rose gold or stainless case, a white or black enamel dial and a plain or crocodile pattern strap in black or brown.

The watch is described as having a Miyota 8215 movement but the photos appear to show a 9015 when viewed through the exhibition case back. A 9015 movement is a stretch goal for the project but given the movements are not interchangeable due to their differing heights, this may be a stretch goal that has already been decided and will be offered no matter what the final tally.
