Most micro brands have their designs made by contract manufacturing so it’s a real pleasure to see a brand that prides itself on making things by hand.

Eluxio Timepieces is an independent watch brand created by Osvaldo Marzo, an artisan goldsmith with a passion for craftsmanship and a fascination with mechanical timepieces.

I wrote about Eluxio last year when they were planning a release called the Bracelight. It seems the brand has reworked its offering into a range of beautifully hand crafted watches instead. The two models, Racing 1 and Classic Blue, are both variations of the same case design with different hand crafted handsets and indices.

Osvaldo really does make everything by hand with traditional and manually controlled machines. There is no CNC milling involved here at all. Apart from the movement (a customised Sellita SW200-1 Automatic)  and the leather strap, everything is made by Eluxio including:

  • Crown
  • Dial with applied indexes
  • Hands(hours, minutes, seconds)
  • Rotor
  • Ring movement block
  • Buckle

Even the screws are modified!

This amazing dedication to craftsmanship results in a truly unique timepiece with a novel design. It’s important to Osvaldo that his customers understand how their watch is made and by whom. This way they not only know what they are buying but can appreciate the skill involved in its production.

The skill is definitely on display with these pieces and as would be expected with a hand crafted watch, the price is at the upper end of the micro brand market. You can expect to pay €2945 (inc. VAT) in the EU and €2475 outside the EU. It appears each watch is made to order (or at least assembled to order) with a 3-5 week delivery time.
