While the mainstream luxury watches industry is getting ready for its annual celebration – Watches & Wonders 2023 Show in Geneva by the end of this month, microbrand watch enthusiasts got happy news yesterday from Yema, the french microbrand. If you follow Yema on social networks, you probably saw yesterday’s post announcing that Yema started production of its CMM.20 Caliber. What’s so special about this caliber, and what’s so special about this announcement? Let’s find out together!
If you don’t know Yema, it’s an excellent opportunity to make an introduction to this micro brand.
Yema is a French watch brand producing high-quality timepieces since 1948. The company was founded by Henry Louis Belmont, who was passionate about creating watches that were both elegant and functional. Over the years, Yema has gained a reputation for producing durable and reliable watches suitable for a wide range of activities, from diving and aviation to everyday wear.

One of Yema’s most popular models is the Superman dive watch, first introduced in 1963. This watch was designed to be water-resistant up to 300 meters and was used by professional divers and military personnel. The Superman has undergone several updates and redesigns over the years but still maintains its classic and iconic look.
Yema also produces a range of pilot watches, including the Flygraf and the Airforce. These watches are designed to be accurate and reliable, with features such as chronographs and tachymeters.
In addition to their dive and pilot watches, Yema also produces dress and casual watches suitable for everyday wear. The company is committed to using high-quality materials and innovative designs to create stylish and functional watches.
Overall, Yema is a respected and established watch brand with a loyal following among collectors and enthusiasts. Their watches are known for their quality, durability, and classic style.
CMM.20 Caliber and Yema Calibres
Yema is a watch brand that designs and produces its own watch movements or calibers. This means they are involved in every aspect of the watchmaking process, from design to production. Yema’s watch movements are known for their accuracy, reliability, and durability and are a key component in the quality of their timepieces. The brand uses a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology to create its calibers, ensuring that their watches meet the highest standards of performance and functionality
So, what’s so special about the CMM.20 Caliber? Well, Caliber CMM.20 is the company’s new micro-rotor caliber, which the company developed for its new watch, the Wristmaster Micro-Roter Limited Edition.

If you ask for our opinion, the Wristmaster Micro-Rotor Limited Edition is one of the most exciting watches we’ve seen in the last few months.
Inspired by the emblematic 1960’s YEMA Wristmaster timepieces, this unique model is equipped with the first ultra-thin micro-rotor French Manufacture caliber, which can be admired through a sapphire crystal exhibition case.
Designed as a luxury sports watch with integrated steel bracelet and water resistant to 100m thanks to a threaded screw-down crown, the Traveller Micro-Rotor Limited Edition is a rare and elegant high-end watchmaking timepiece at a fair price that works both on formal occasions as well as everyday wear.
Yema launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce this watch, which has already raised €2,438,662, from 1,446 backers. Yema is offering every watch for €1,499, and EU backers must pay an extra €300 EU VAT during checkout.

Backers can choose dial color, caliber color, and preferred engraved number at the end of the campaign. The watches will be shipped from July to October 2023 from Yema French workshops, through monthly batches of 500 watches, following chronological order numbers.

The total number of watches offered is 1,600, so if you’re interested in one, you better hurry, as there are only 177 watches left.
Although many times people mix up microbrand watch world with low quality, many microbrands, and Yema is one of them, are proving how this conception is wrong and that Microbrand watches manufacturers can produce watches that are “haute horlogerie.”
We will keep following this exciting project and its progress in the following months, and we look forward to more projects like this one.
